We talk a lot about the family values that Gabriel’s Angels and like a family we love to get involved and support in our client’s special events.
Recently, one of our dear clients - Sara - was really keen to set up and celebrate her birthday in a party at the superb new training facility at our Wokingham headquarters with the help of Gabriel’s Angels carer – Tina. We were delighted to host Sara’s special day!
As you can see from the image – you will see the backdrop of “Nicky’s Club” which is what the facility is called for such family events. This does however have a slightly sad beginning. Jacqueline Payne, Registered Manager at Gabriel’s Angels revealed “Nicky was a previous carer at Gabriel’s Angels but who left us to join the NHS to do her nursing qualifications. She did have some struggles with mental health issues – and very sadly took her own life as a result”.
“Nicky’s mum – Helen – is still a valued carer at Gabriel’s Angels and really wanted to remember Nicky in a positive way and as a result we set up Nicky’s Club. This developed in a venue where clients and carers can spend time, meet up and talk in a safe environment about their problems - but at the same time positively celebrate and enjoy important life events”.
Jacqueline added “Nicky would be so proud of Sara and Tina – included in the many clients and carers they invited to her party was a young man who was also struggling with mental health issues – he bonded with some other male clients at the event who shared their experiences with him in such a positive way and thoroughly enjoying himself as a result!”. These events help form little bonds within our extended family and can help changes lives forever. So much so – we feel Nicky’s hand on our shoulders when we need her”.
“We have some really special carers who are carrying on the deep meaningful work that Nicky did through Nicky’s Club Tina, Sonia, Louise, Helen, Clare, Lenka, Debbie, Allyne and many others, thank you all!..... And a Happy Birthday to Sara!!!”
