How Live in Care Supports Independent Living

You can remain at home

With full time around-the-clock care to call upon, you can remain safe and secure at home. The assigned carer will provide you with all the care & support you need to continue to live your life as you previously did without care.

The crucial difference is that you will be cared for while still surrounded by familiar surroundings and possessions (that you wouldn’t get in residential care facilities and homes).

You can retain consistent family support

Your family can stay involved in your ongoing care; continuing to stay in touch and monitor the level of care you’re receiving.

This will also allow a closer relationship to be formed with your carer making it easier to make decisions about your wellbeing, the level of care and what additional support you may need.

You can maintain your independence

For some people, the word ‘care’ conjures up images of people being assigned a room and told what to do throughout the day; this is the opposite of what live in care is.

You can continue to live in your home, do what you want, see who you want, when you want. The only change will be that you’ve got extra support assigned to you when you need it – having this help enables you to carry on with a lifestyle that is both comfortable and familiar.

You can receive round-the-clock care

Live in care allows for a constant level of one-to-one care; which is often impossible in residential homes where carers are responsible for several people at the same time.

Having a live-in carer means that they’ll be available whenever they’re needed, 24/7 – this creates stability in the home, allowing you and your family to relax knowing that you’re getting the dedicated care you need at all times.

Making decisions about living arrangements can be challenging, but our live-in care services aim to enhance your quality of life. We understand that care, lifestyle, and independence are crucial factors to consider.

How We Personalise Our Care Services

At Gabriel's Angels, we believe that every individual deserves care that reflects their unique personality and needs. Here’s how we make our services truly personal:

Individualised Care Plans: We start with a heartfelt consultation with our Care Manager, who takes the time to understand not just your care requirements, but also your likes, dislikes, and what makes you, you. This allows us to create a care plan that feels just right.

Carer Matching: We know how important it is to feel comfortable with your carer. That’s why we carefully match you with a carer who shares your interests and values. You’ll even have the chance to meet potential carers before making your choice.

Flexible Care Options: Life can be unpredictable, so we offer a range of care packages tailored to fit your schedule—from as little as 30 minutes a week to full 24-hour live-in care. We’re here to adapt to your needs.

Specialised Care: Our team is equipped to support a variety of conditions, including dementia, learning disabilities, mental health challenges, and physical disabilities. Whatever your situation, we’re here for you.

Continuity of Care: We strive to keep the same carer with you as much as possible, ensuring that you build a trusting relationship over time. Only when necessary will we introduce a replacement.

Maintaining Independence: Our goal is to help you maintain your independence in the comfort of your own home. We work closely with you to support your lifestyle and preferences.

Involving Family: For those receiving live-in care, we believe in keeping family involved. You can access care plans, records, and calendars through our online community platform, ensuring everyone stays informed.

Regular Communication: Our Care Managers are always just a call away. We stay in regular contact to ensure everything is running smoothly and that you’re completely satisfied with our services

Frequently Asked Questions

Simply – pick up the phone and call us!. The process works best if we sit down with the client and those involved and map out what exactly is needed in terms of care. This is best done face to face so that we not only see the client but also their living situation etc, so that we can carefully prepare the written care plan  with you. This initial meeting is also very important to ensure that we provide the needed care in the most cost-effective way for the client.

The basic requirements for a live-in carer  will be a clean, comfortable bedroom with adequate heating and personal storage facility, access to bathroom facilities, fresh linen, food, wifi access. The arrangements in respect of all of this would be handled by Gabriel’s Angels – so don’t worry!

Yes, that is no problem. Each client will be assessed by us and a specific care plan put in place for each of you. For couples this can be a much more cost effective care solution.

This can vary of course, but typically when more complex care is required to assist with reduced mobility, medication, incontinence, dementia etc and so forth that a client may be faced with – then live-in care becomes a good solution.

Yes, they do. At Gabriel’s Angels we take care of all the organisation providing a respite or replacement carer (who the client would select) for the period of the holiday.

This can vary according to what the client and live-in carer both want but at Gabriel’s Angels we would take care of specifically designing a rota which works for both. Rest assured the client's needs and wants are always paramount.

Yes, your care needs and wishes can be fully assessed and if you are eligible for local authority funding (which is means tested, you house does not form part of the assessment if your loved one wants to stay at home to be cared for) you can receive live in care.

Our Care Managers will hold regular reviews with the client (on a confidential basis) to fully review the standard of care is meeting the client’s needs in all respects. The client can, at any time, call the appointed Care Manager to discuss any issue.

This is an easy question - but there are quite a few answers! We would normally recommend that one of Care Managers sits down and goes through the options. Most domiciliary care provision is normally provided through private funding such as savings, or family sponsorship in some form. The important point to emphasise initially it is not a case of quoting by the hour etc – this may be an outcome, but the focus has to be what is the most appropriate care package, securely and professionally delivered by our high-quality trained carers.

This is best handled during the initial discussion and meeting with one of our Care Managers who can advise the most appropriate way to fund the care package needed.
