Let’s Discuss Your Care Needs

What Is Live-In Care and Is It Right for You?

Live in care service wokingham, Berkshire by Gabriel's Angels

Live-in care is a form of home care where a professional, trained carer moves into your home to provide round-the-clock support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Unlike visiting care, which offers scheduled visits throughout the day, live-in care provides continuous, one-to-one support — meaning help is always available whenever it's needed, day or night.

Because the carer lives with you, they quickly become familiar with your routines, preferences, and personality — building a trusted relationship that goes far beyond task-based care.

As part of our care service we assist with daily tasks such as:

  • Washing and dressing
  • Getting in and out of bed
  • Medication management
  • Food preparation and cooking
  • Shopping and light housework
  • Gardening
  • Collecting prescriptions and supervising medication
  • Attending hospital appointments
  • Companionship and social care

Gabriel's Angels are regulated by the Care Quality Commission CQC. You may need a carer at home for a week, a month, or just to help with daily activities after a hospital stay. Gabriel's Angels around the clock home care service helps you live comfortably and confidently while you remain in familiar surroundings in your home.

Live-In Care for Complex Conditions in Wokingham

1

Trained to support a wide range of health conditions

Our live-in carers in Wokingham are trained to support a wide range of health conditions and complex care needs. We work closely with healthcare professionals, GPs, district nurses, community nursing teams, and hospital discharge coordinators to ensure a fully joined-up approach to your care — so nothing falls through the gap between clinical support and day-to-day living.

We understand that complex conditions do not stay the same. They progress, change, and present new challenges over time. That is why our Care Managers remain actively involved throughout every placement — reviewing care plans regularly, responding quickly when needs change, and ensuring your carer always has the knowledge and support they need to deliver the highest standard of care.

2

Dementia & Alzheimer's Care at Home Wokingham

Living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease presents unique challenges — for the individual and their family. Our specialist dementia carers in Wokingham are trained in dementia-aware communication, cognitive stimulation techniques, and safe home management. Familiar surroundings are proven to reduce confusion and anxiety in dementia patients, making live-in care at home one of the most beneficial and person-centred options available.

We use structured daily routines, meaningful activities, and compassionate presence to support dignity, reduce distress, and maintain quality of life for as long as possible. Whether your loved one is in the early stages of memory loss or living with advanced dementia, our carers provide consistent, specialist support — day and night — in the home they know and love.

3

Parkinson's Disease Home Care Wokingham

Parkinson's disease requires careful, specialist support that adapts as the condition progresses. Our carers are experienced in supporting safe mobility, managing tremor-related challenges, assisting with complex medication regimes — where timing is often critical — and providing the physical and emotional support needed to maintain independence at home in Wokingham.

We work alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and community nurses to ensure care is coordinated and responsive to how Parkinson's affects your loved one day to day. Our goal is to help clients remain active, comfortable, and connected to the life they know for as long as possible.

4

Stroke Recovery Care at Home Wokingham

Following a stroke, the transition home from hospital can feel daunting for both the individual and their family. Our live-in stroke recovery carers in Wokingham provide skilled support with physical rehabilitation exercises, speech and communication support, personal care, and daily living tasks — helping you rebuild confidence and independence at your own pace, in your own home.

We liaise closely with hospital discharge teams and community rehabilitation services to ensure the move home is safe, planned, and properly supported from day one. For many families, live-in care following a stroke removes the need for a lengthy rehabilitation placement and allows recovery to happen in the most familiar and reassuring environment possible.

5

Palliative & End of Life Care at Home Wokingham

For those nearing the end of life, being at home — in familiar surroundings, with loved ones close — is often of the greatest importance. Our compassionate live-in palliative care team in Wokingham works sensitively alongside NHS community nurses, district nurses, and hospice teams to provide dignified, holistic end of life care.

We support not just the individual but their whole family through one of life's most profound journeys — providing practical care, emotional presence, and the reassurance that your loved one is never alone. Our carers are trained in end of life care and understand the importance of compassion, dignity, and respect at every moment.

6

Post-Operative & Hospital Discharge Care Wokingham

Need care after a hospital stay? We provide short-term live-in care in Wokingham following surgery or a medical episode — ensuring a safe, well-supported recovery at home rather than a prolonged hospital admission or an unnecessary move into residential care.

Our hospital discharge care packages can be arranged quickly — often within 24 to 48 hours — working directly with the hospital discharge team to ensure the transition home is seamless. Whether you need support for a week, a month, or longer, we put the right carer in place from day one so recovery can begin in the comfort of your own home.

The Benefits of Choosing Live-In Care Over Residential Care

You can remain at home

With full time around-the-clock care to call upon, you can remain safe and secure at home. The assigned carer will provide you with all the care & support you need to continue to live your life as you previously did without care.

The crucial difference is that you will be cared for while still surrounded by familiar surroundings and possessions (that you wouldn’t get in residential care facilities and homes).

You can retain consistent family support

Your family can stay involved in your ongoing care; continuing to stay in touch and monitor the level of care you’re receiving.

This will also allow a closer relationship to be formed with your carer making it easier to make decisions about your wellbeing, the level of care and what additional support you may need.

You can maintain your independence

For some people, the word ‘care’ conjures up images of people being assigned a room and told what to do throughout the day; this is the opposite of what live in care is.

You can continue to live in your home, do what you want, see who you want, when you want. The only change will be that you’ve got extra support assigned to you when you need it – having this help enables you to carry on with a lifestyle that is both comfortable and familiar.

You can receive round-the-clock care

Live in care allows for a constant level of one-to-one care; which is often impossible in residential homes where carers are responsible for several people at the same time.

Having a live-in carer means that they’ll be available whenever they’re needed, 24/7 – this creates stability in the home, allowing you and your family to relax knowing that you’re getting the dedicated care you need at all times.

Frequently Asked Questions

The process for organising home or live-in care in Wokingham is designed to be as straightforward as possible, focusing on a person's individual needs. It typically begins with an initial consultation, followed by a detailed care assessment to create a personal care plan

Simply – pick up the phone and call us!

The process works best when we sit down with the client and those involved and map out what exactly is needed in terms of care. This is best done face to face so that we not only see the client but also their living situation etc, so that we can carefully prepare the written care plan  with you. This initial meeting is also very important to ensure that we provide the needed care in the most cost-effective way for the client.

A live-in carer needs specific facilities at the client's home. This helps them provide the best care and have a comfortable living space.

The basic requirements for a live-in carer will be a clean, comfortable bedroom with adequate heating and personal storage facility, access to bathroom facilities, fresh linen, food, wifi access.

The arrangements in respect of all of this would be handled by Gabriel’s Angels – so don’t worry!

Yes, that is no problem. Each client will be assessed by us and a specific care plan put in place for each of you. For couples this can be a much more cost effective care solution.

This can vary of course, but typically when more complex care is required to assist with reduced mobility, medication, incontinence, dementia etc and so forth that a client may be faced with – then live-in care becomes a good solution.

Yes, they do. At Gabriel’s Angels we take care of all the organisation providing a respite or replacement carer (who the client would select) for the period of the holiday.

This can vary according to what the client and live-in carer both want but at Gabriel’s Angels we would take care of specifically designing a rota which works for both. Rest assured the client's needs and wants are always paramount.

Your care needs and wishes can be fully assessed and if you are eligible for local authority funding (which is means tested, you house does not form part of the assessment if your loved one wants to stay at home to be cared for) you can receive live in care.

Our Care Managers will hold regular reviews with the client (on a confidential basis) to fully review the standard of care is meeting the client’s needs in all respects. The client can, at any time, call the appointed Care Manager to discuss any issue.

This is an easy question - but there are quite a few answers! We would normally recommend that one of Care Managers sits down and goes through the options. Most domiciliary care provision is normally provided through private funding such as savings, or family sponsorship in some form. The important point to emphasise initially it is not a case of quoting by the hour etc – this may be an outcome, but the focus has to be what is the most appropriate care package, securely and professionally delivered by our high-quality trained carers.

This is best handled during the initial discussion and meeting with one of our Care Managers who can advise the most appropriate way to fund the care package needed.
